The Painted Room
IArchitecture is a running theme throughout my work and as my interest in architectural spaces increased I challenged myself to expand my paintings beyond their usual context.
November 2010 saw me complete The Painted Room, a 3 day project allowing me to test the nature and outcome of what I envisioned as ‘Painted Installation’.
My aim was to create a space, using paint, which allowed the viewer to be immersed in the painting.
Initially The Painted Room was inspired by urban spaces and architecture within the city of Edinburgh. As the piece evolved, feeding off the atmospherics in the room itself, the work became more concerned with the architectural qualities demonstrated within the paint.
